Gridranger 10 Dec, am. Wow, impressive! I've just started to play it and wached some videos to see, how the original looked like to have some reference. Nice job.
I searched for 'dragon' to no avail as well. It also doesn't appear to be in my user profile where my projects have been popping in. Help would be wonderful! I'm just getting started on this, but Dragon Warrior was one of my favorite games of all time. I'm super excited about this. Thank you for the investment. JumbaX4 20 Jan, am. Nardraug 20 Jan, am. Text is large and clear even for these old tired eyes.
And let's not forget that this is all being viewed on 1. Amazingly light but not too distracting, the music adds to the game. A lilting melody as you wander the map, more ominous when crawling the dungeons. Once again, the sound effects enhance the RPG experience. A lower tone for the battles, a high chime for discovered treasure or a rattling squelch when the monsters strike -- neither annoying nor boring.
Here is an effort well worth mentioning, music and sound from a speaker the size of a bottle cap. I have picked up and played my Game Boy Color each day for at least three hours since first starting this game. I got lost for hours creating characters and recreating my party. I sat entranced by the various spells, techniques and combination of attacks and magic available to me and my party. I happily lost sleep while my party gained experience.
This will be a game longed played. This will be a bonus for battery makers and the Power Company, as my Game Boy Color remains powered constantly. But Thank You's and kudos got to the folks at Enix for bringing to the Game Boy, a fabulous, astounding, mesmerizing and thoroughly enchanting role-playing game.
Hats off to you for a superb job! The Legend of Erdrick begins here as you are plunged backward in time to the lost land of Aliahan. You and three hand-picked companions will travel by day and night to find and destroy the arch-fiend Baramos before he consumes the land.
You'll explore fearful new dungeons, aided by your allies who can change classes mid-game. If you discover the Magic Bird, it will fly you to remote locations.
In this adventure, you have come of age to do battle with the evil that has plagued the land once again. Upon the request of the king, you are to complete all of his instructions in order to prove your valor and to defeat the forces of darkness once and for all! Dragon Warrior 3 boasts some of the most impressive elements that an RPG can contain. The length of the quest has been considerably expanded and the action is non stop!
You'll need to talk with all of the towns people and get clues and weapons to press on with your mission. Keep heart, Dragon Warrior fans, you're going to be in for a real treat. The game, which almost single-handedly spun off the console RP6 genre in japan, became somewhat of a cult hit in the U. If you're unfamiliar with Dragon Warrior, it's basically a traditional old-school RPG where you venture from town to town, gathering information, battling monsters and upgrading your equipment.
Typical RPG fare, one might think, but the DW games have a certain undeniable appeal, with their well-balanced gameplay and carefully crafted stories. The series is extraordinarily popular in Japan, having sold over 22 million copies since the first DW was released in In addition to better graphics and sounds, the game speed has picked up quite a bit, thanks to a more user-friendly interface and much quicker battles.
Speaking of battles, the monster Al has been improved significantly to match up with that of the more recent games in the series. There's also a host of minor improvements, including new intro cinemas, more items, vaults for storing excess belongings, and, best of all, a new Field Log save system that allows you to save your place from anywhere in the game.
Sorry, cheaters--the log gets deleted as soon as you resume play. This was done to make the games more true to the Japanese originals Loto instead of Erdrick, Lorasia instead of Midenhall, etc. It takes a little getting used to for fans of the old games, but the translation is otherwise very good, and hopefully a sign of things to come from the newly reformed Enix of America. I'm 13 years old again, playing the game that would lead to my undying love of RPGs for decades to come.
Re-entering the U. It's also interesting to see the progression made between the first and second game. The results are spectacular. DWI has all-new fight backgrounds and both games have shed the insanely convoluted menu system employed by their NES ancestors you used to have to bring up a menu and choose a command just to take the stairs to another floor. Monsters floating over a white background don't look overly impressive. While old-timers will revel in this pure RPG experience, gamers weaned on Final Fantasy VII will immediately notice the hours of extraneous level building needed to complete each game, along with the fact that they're pretty damn short overall.
Play this now. The story, combat system and pretty much everything else is right out of the RPG cliche handbook--but so what? It works fine, it's fun to play, and I don't expect stunning originality or a Final Fantasy-caliber experience from the Game Boy.
