Loved the 1st Edition and have found this 2nd Edition book a most successful primer both in its gentle learning progression with music of interest. Successful in maintaining interest while establishing joyful and achievable piano and musical notation skills and with all my students.
I had not taught piano for several years and had never used Alfred literature. I was very pleased with the layout of the book. I am anxious to start teaching my grandson.
When this series came out 15 or so years ago, I switched all my students to it. I have found it to be well thought out and such a good stepwise progression that the students make rapid progress and rarely, if ever, "hit a wall" of understanding. The music is I have also used the older beginner series for ages through adult and have found that just as good. I am impressed with the grasp the Fabers have of HOW students learn to read.
